Emergency services attend multiple collisions on M50

EMERGENCY services are attending the scene of two road traffic collisions this afternoon on the M50 resulting in heavy traffic.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the M50 southbound at Junction 6 near the Toll Bridge at Blanchardstown which is blocking the left and middle lanes.

In a statement on Twitter, the Gardaí encouraged people to be careful if using the M50: “Traffic is reduced to one lane. Awaiting DFB (Dublin Fire Brigade) and please exercise caution and reduce speed.”

In a separate incident this afternoon, there has been a collision southbound between Junction 7 Lucan and Junction 9 Red Cow blocking the auxiliary, left and middle lanes.

Shortly after 2pm this afternoon, Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that they had attended the scene and the two lanes were reopened.

They tweeted: “We’re finishing on scene at a road traffic collision on M50 J7 Lucan Southbound.

“Lanes were temporarily blocked but traffic restrictions are easing.”
