Gardaí claim to have received no reports on alleged assaults

By Maurice Garvey

NO REPORTS have been made to gardaí regarding alleged attacks of women in the Lucan area.

Reports surfaced this week on social media of an “attempted abduction” of a couple, which led to widespread concern in the community.

A woman claimed she was attacked by a man on October 4, whilst walking through Kew Park laneway, in between Weston and Hillcrest.

The woman posted the message to “warn other people” and said she managed to get away from the man with “only scratches and bruises”.

She also claimed another woman was attacked last Sunday night by a man fitting the same description.

The message spooked plenty of female residents, and The Echo received calls from worried readers seeking clarification.

Gardaí confirmed to The Echo that they have not received any reports of assaults on women in the area.
