Gardai seeking public’s help in reuniting stolen tools with owners

By Aura McMenamin

If you have had tools stolen this year, you may be in luck as Gardai are seeking to find the owners of equipment recovered during a search of a vehicle on Saturday, November 4.

Gardai on a routine patrol in Mountmellick in Co. Laois stopped a van and trailer full of assorted tools at 5am on Saturday.

There have been many incidents of stolen tools across South Dublin County in recent months.

An official Facebook page of An Garda Siochana posted pictures of several power tools seized earlier this week and asked for the public’s assistance in reuniting the tools with their owners.

Some items have already been identified as being stolen in the Leixlip area in September.

Gardai said: “If you know of anybody, especially builders who have had tools stolen recently, let them know about this recovery of tools.

“Even if you do not see your property it would be worth your while making an appointment and having a look at all the items in person.”

You can find more photos of the tools posted by gardai HERE.

Anybody who thinks they recognise anything from above stills can email laoisoffaly.crimeprevention@garda.ie

Gardai envisage that they will hold an open day in due course.
