Gardai seize €1.3m in cigarettes and tobacco
AN ESTIMATED €1.36m in cigarettes and tobacco was seized by gardai following a number of searches in the Tallaght area.
According to a Garda statement released, the operation on Monday morning, October 10, comprised of personnel attached to the Tallaght Drug Divisional Unit, uniform units and Garda Dog Unit.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Following the searches, the seized items were later handed over to staff from Revenue’s Custom Services.
“The cigarettes seized represent a potential loss to Revenue in excess of €1m.
“No arrests have been made at this time.”
Gardai said that investigations are ongoing.
