81 years young! Great grandmother from Tallaght on Ireland’s Got Talent

A GREAT grandmother from Tallaght is set to grace the Ireland’s Got Talent stage this evening, when the 81-year-old will sing her heart out in the very first episode and audition stage of the TV3 show.
Evelyn Williams, who has six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, has been singing all her life and ended up on the Ireland’s Got Talent stage after her granddaughter submitted an application on her behalf.
Evelyn, who lost her husband and “great love” Noel seven years ago, will feature on tonight’s first episode of Ireland’s Got Talent, which will air on TV3 at 7.30pm.
The Irish format of the hit show is being presented by Lucy Kennedy, with judges including Louis Walsh, Michelle Visage, Jason Byrne and Denise Van Outen.
Having worked down the years with impersonator Mister Pussy and Sil Fox, Evelyn’s love of music and singing came from dad, who passed away when she was just 16.
A well-known face around Tallaght, Evelyn, who has featured in The Echo a number of times over the years, has also been an extra on Fair City for the past two decades.
The Tallaght lady also sings every Sunday when she heads to a pensioners club in Walkinstown with a friend, and loves to spend time in her garden.
Also, on the show tonight is 20-year-old singer Donna Parrish Lucan, who is currently in the second year of a four year course in primary school teaching at Maynooth University.
Donna has been performing since she was four years old and teaches children in the dance school she attends, The Talent Kids Agency.
The act she is performing tonight is one which her late grandad used to do and while Donna has re-invented it with updated music, the “act is all him”.
