SBG Tallaght re-launching this weekend

STRAIGHT Blast Gym (SBG) Tallaght is re-launching on Saturday (February 3) after investing significantly in high performance technology and equipment.

Visitors to the Belgard Road gym on Saturday will be able to experience the installation of a new oxygen chamber.

The SBG Altitude chamber can facilitate training for up to 20 people at any one time, and offers multiple health benefits to participants.

Graham Deegan, Managing Director SBG Tallaght, said: “It is the same as being 10,000 feet above sea level. The chamber is a sealed room, which allows for 15.5 per cent oxygen in the air. Normally you are breathing in 21 per cent oxygen, including some carbon monoxide in your lungs.”

Deegan says exercising in the SGB@Altitude provides a rush of blood and “you also get benefits 15 hours afterwards.”

“It’s not new technology, but it is very very good,” said Deegan.

“I swam for Ireland at high altitude in Flagstaff (Arizona) in 1999, lived at altitude for four weeks and went to the World Championships afterwards.

“This is next level stuff. You can do spinning and cycling classes in the chamber or something similar, and get massive calories burn, during and afterwards.”

When it was established in 2016, SBG Tallaght boasted 15,000 sq ft of space, making it one of Europe’s largest MMA facilities.

However, the recent investment, has seen the facility increase to over 20,000 sq ft.

“We’ve also put a big investment in cardio equipment, treadmills, bikes, leg press, lifting platforms and weights.”

An open day to celebrate the re-launch of SBG Tallaght, takes place on Saturday, from 12 noon to 2pm, at their Glenabbey Complex premises, Belgard Road.

SBG Tallaght are running a competition for new members to win a year’s free membership – to be in with a chance, like, share and tag their Facebook post by Saturday.
