Ray Cooke of Ray Cooke Auctioneers told The Echo: “There are so many great young artists in our local primary schools and Christmas is also a very special time of year – as a local auctioneer we thought it would be a great idea if the children could combine a picture of their home or favourite building with a Christmas theme.

“We are delighted to be in a position of give this great prize to the overall winning school and to two young budding artists and help contribute to the local community.”

The competition will be to produce a drawing which should contain the following: a house or property (house, apartment, castle, barn, shed etc.) which is Christmas-themed and should incorporate the famous Ray Cooke Auctioneers For-Sale sign.

The competition will be split into two entry levels: Junior infants to 1st class and 2nd class to 6th class.

There will be a presentation with the winning school and students which will be featured in The Echo just before Christmas.

Each entry will receive a certificate for entering.

Emma Kennedy, Managing Director with The Echo, is looking forward to the competition and says: “The Echo is delighted to be involved with this great competition and looks forward to working with Ray and the staff at Ray Cooke Auctioneers over the coming weeks on the promotion of the competition.

“We are excited to help with choosing the winners and seeing all the fantastic school entries.”

Each school will be provided with entry sheets on which the children can draw and make their entry. Closing date for applications will be December 9, 2016.
