Have your Say on how to spend €300k in Tallaght Central area

HAVE your Say and vote for how you would like €300k to be spent in the Tallaght Central electoral area.

Voting has opened on South Dublin County Council’s €300k Have your Say initiative, with 20 community-generated projects shortlisted for Tallaght Central out of 223 public submissions.

The community is now invited to vote on the shortlist of 20 projects, which, according to the council, all aim to improve quality of life for residents, visitors and business in Tallaght Central.

Voting is open until Monday, November 22, and can be carried out online or in-person at community-based voting stations.

These venues include County Library, Tallaght, Kilnamanagh Community Centre and Dominic’s Community Centre – which will all open for voting between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday, November 18.

Established in 2017, the Have your Say initiative allows residents to develop project proposals for the local area, community-led projects that directly benefit neighbours, friends and family.

In recent years, communities that benefited from the €300k include Lucan, Clondalkin and Firhouse-Bohernabreena, with Tallaght Central up for 2021.

All the ideas received for Tallaght Central were reviewed and consolidated into a shortlist by the participatory budgeting steering committee, which is made up of elected members and council officials.

This week, these recommendations were brought before a full council meeting and approved.

Speaking on the launch of the voting stage, councillor Peter Kavanagh, Mayor of South Dublin County, said: “Before I was elected to the council, I took part in €300k Have Your Say when it ran in Clondalkin in 2018 and it is a great way for people to get involved and decide what they want to see in their local area.

“Voting is open for the next two weeks and I would urge the people of Tallaght Central to get involved and have their say on where this funding should go.”
