HELP: Family of murdered man offering cash reward for information on missing dog

The family of murdered man Michael McCoy (64) have reached out to the public in the hope of finding a beloved pet, their Boxer dog FIA, who has been missing since the tragic events unfolded in Ballinascorney on Thursday.

A cash reward has this morning been offered for any information on Fia’s location.

Mr McCoy was out walking with his dogs on Thursday at Ballinascorney Hill when he sustained fatal injuries due to an assault

His body was discovered in a wooded area in Ballinascorney on Friday morning by a search and rescue crew.

One man, aged 41, was arrested yesterday evening and is being detained at Tallaght Garda Station.

Meanwhile the search continues for one of Mr McCoy’s dogs, Fia who has been missing since the attack.

Another family dog, also with Mr McCoy at the time of the assault, returned to the family home.

Several members of the McCoy family have taken to social media in an attempt to find Fia, with Kirstin McCoy, a niece of the murdered man, pleading with Twitter users to share images and videos of the dog.

She said: “FIA a female boxer went missing Thursday at #Ballinascorney Woods Dublin Mountains near #Tallaght Please help find her.

“My Uncle was found murdered on Friday at Dublin Mountains. I appeal to anyone with info to please contact the Garda

“I ask anyone with info please contact Tallaght Garda station on 01 666000 or Garda confidential line 1800 666 111.”

Mr McCoy’s daughter Rachel also asked Twitter users for their help, saying, “Fia our boxer is still missing in the Ballinascorney area after my dad was assaulted. Please share & help find her”.
