Here’s five spooky events happening locally this weekend

This Bank holiday weekend promises to be a spooky one with plenty of Halloween themed events happening across the area to get you and your little ones in the spirit. Here's just five... 

 

Saimhain’s Haunted Forest Walk - Rathfarnham

The creatures of the night return once again to Marlay Park for the Samhain’s Haunted Forest Walk in Sunday, October 29.

Entry is free but by wristband only, which can be collected on Saturday October 28 from 8am at the markets in Marlay Park.

Halloween Bushy Park Market - Terenure

The team behind the weekly Bushy Park market are putting a Halloween twist on this Saturday’s event.

The Halloween Party at Bushy Park promises a great day out with entertainment for everyone from 12-3pm.

Children can enjoy the Scary Witch face painters and balloon modeling, spooky Halloween stories and a staged Halloween garden for the younger ones to play in.

There is no admission cost.

Halloween Weekend at the Abberley Court Hotel - Tallaght

The Abberley Hotel is hosting the perfect weekend of Halloween festivities for the family. There will be a kid’s family fun day including a kid’s fancy dress and magic show and live music in the evening.

The Family Fun Day is on Saturday, October 28. The magic show will take place on Saturday from 2pm - 4pm.

 

Harry Potter Halloween at South Dublin County Libraries - various venues

Halloween is a time of ghouls, ghosts and spooky goings on. Get into the spirit of all things spooky and magical with South Dublin Libraries.

On Halloween, South Dublin County will bring the magic of JK Rowling to kids aged eight to 12 in all of their branch libraries.

There will be a Harry Potter-themed storytelling and craft workshop where the kids can learn all about the wands of Harry, Hermione and the Hogwarts’ crew.

Kids can even learn how to make a wand of their own.

If that isn’t enough for Harry Potter fans, Clondalkin Library has invited children aged over eight to a potions class on November 1.

Also on October 31, the County Library in Tallaght will host a treasure trail from 12-4pm, with a scary storytime at 3.30pm.

There will be arts and crafts, where your little ones can learned how to make a spooky sweetie tree, a Happy Halloween card or a scary mummy.

Lucan Library will host a spooky storytime for children aged under six on November 1st.

All events are free but prior booking can be done by ringing each library.

Zombie Fun Run – Ballyfermot

Prepare for some zombie sightings in Ballyfermot this Halloween.

Markievicz Park will host a Zombie Fun Run, organised by the Dublin City Sport and Wellness Partnership.

The one mile run will take place on Tuesday, October 31st, with all under-18 finishers receiving a designer medal from Dublin City Council.

There will be face painting, a DJ and fire juggler.

The race kicks off at 12:30pm and a consent form can be found HERE
