Hermitage stopped short of Bruen Shield

HERMITAGE Golf Club came up just short in their bid for the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield after they were beat 3-2 by Kinsale in the final in Thurles.

Paul Shanahan holed the winning putt for the Cork side as he and Rhys Reynolds beat Richard Gladney and Louis Hemeryck in a dramatic finish on the 19th.

Hermitage’s Sean Pardy and Hugh Chambers beat Robert Walsh Jnr and Keith Webb 2&1 while their clubmates Niall Callanan and Shaun Blackburn saw off Eugene O’Callaghan and John Whyte 6&4 in their clash.

But wins for Kinsale’s Brian O’Neill & Barry Dwyer, Aidan Cremin & Ruairi Dwyer and Shanahan & Reynolds saw them over the line in the race for this season’s coveted prize.
