Holohan firmly focused on next project after SBG Tallaght departure

PADDY Holohan has today told Echo.ie he should have a new mixed martial arts gym up and running in Tallaght very soon.

The former UFC flyweight competitor this week announced his departure from the post of Head Coach of SBG Tallaght and is looking at establishing a new MMA outlet.

“I have a definite plan and I’m hoping to get this up and running very soon” said Holohan.

“I’ll be looking to give the best service possible in MMA. I’ve been involved in it for the past 10 years. It’s in my blood.

“I’ll bring the same passion to my training. People coming to my gym will learn what I’ve learnt.

“I’ve had great support and if the people of Tallaght stand behind me the way they have, this will be huge” in insisted.

SBG Tallaght have rushed to assure members that it will be business as usual despite the loss of Holohan saying in a statement “SBG Tallaght respects Paddy’s decision to leave.

“We want to wish Paddy well in the future. SBG Tallaght are working hard on finding a suitable replacement for Paddy. All the other coaches will be operating business as normal.”

The club cited “a staffing issue” as the reason behind the departure of Holohan, who confirmed with The Echo that this was the case, claiming that the company was looking to part ways with someone who was instrumental in the setting up of the gym.

In the meantime, Holohan is continuing to train out of Tallaght Leisure Centre saying, “I’ve always said that all you need are some mats.”

Still he will have his eyes firmly focused on bringing another major MMA outlet to his hometown- a project he has titled SBG D24.

“I’ve always given my all to everything I do. You can take me at face value and the people of Tallaght know that.”
