Hoops hoping to put Harps out of tune

NOTHING less than three points will do for Shamrock Rovers as they welcome Finn Harps to Tallaght Stadium tomorrow night (Friday).

With just six games played, the Hoops are already 12 points off the pace set by current SSE Airtricity League leaders Cork City and will be going all out to make a return to winning ways.

Indeed Stephen Bradley’s side will still be seething from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of near neighbours St Patrick’s Athletic, who, themselves, had managed just one point in their five previous games.

While Rovers have played the four current top sides in the table, they will still be disappointed with their return of just six points from as many games.

And they are not likely to get anything easy from a Finn Harps outfit whose eight-point total so far has all come in their last four outings.

Indeed after a difficult start to the campaign that saw them empty-handed after their opening two games against Cork and Bray Wanderers, the Ballybofey side has since chaked up wins against St Pat’s and Sligo while sharing the spoils with Limerick and Galway.

The lack of a cutting edge up front has certainly hampered Rovers so far this term – something manager Stephen Bradley has been working hard to address.

A win tomorrow night will see them leap-frog Harps, but, more importantly, possibly ignite a much-needed run for the team who will take on Drogheda United and Sligo Rovers below them in their following league games.
