Hoops support Initiative: Viktor reads to Ukrainian children in Tallaght library

SHAMROCK Rovers is supporting an initiative to bring Ukrainian children’s books to Ireland, an initiative set up by Hoops fans Edel Finn, sister of Shamrock Rovers captain Ronan.

League champions Shamrock Rovers are supporting the project @Ukrainianbooksfundraiser and to mark the donation of 130 Ukrainian children’s books to South Dublin Libraries, Rovers’ Ukrainian player Viktor Serdeniuk, skipper Ronan Finn and Gary O’Neill visited Tallaght Library on Friday.

Mayor of South Dublin Councillor Emma Murphy, along with other South Dublin councillors, opened the event.

Viktor read a selection of books to the Ukrainian children in attendance while Ronan and Gary were on hand to get in plenty of photos with the kids.

Through partnership with Ukrainian Crisis Centre of Ireland who have delivered the books from Ukraine to Ireland at no charge, this fundraiser has brought in over 750 Ukrainian children’s books to date.

By donating what you can to @ukrainianbooksfundraiser you can help get a Ukrainian book into the hands of a Ukrainian child in our local area to provide them with comfort and a much-needed connection with home.
