Humbling that Kian has the ‘little village’ in his corner

A LIVE ONLINE quiz is being held this Saturday by a Tallaght GAA Club to help raise funds for a little boy who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Kian Finnegan (8 months) lives in the States with his mam Adrienne and dad Neil, who is a former Thomas Davis GAA player and the son of long-time club official Dominic Finnegan.

According to the family, Kian loves to laugh, sing, snuggle his mam, watch football with his dad and is fascinated by his big sister, June.

Before Christmas, Kian’s parents got the news that their little boy had a brain tumour.

On January 8 he underwent  15 hours of surgery, during which doctors removed 40 per cent of the growth.

As Kian undergoes a programme of chemotherapy, his family and friends in Tallaght are hoping to ease the financial burden for Adrienne and Neil, with Thomas Davis  holding a fun online live Facebook quiz this Saturday in support.

The Echo contacted Adrienne and Neil in the States this week, and they issued a big, heartfelt ‘thanks’ across the Atlentic to Tallaght.

“We wish we had the words to express our gratitude and appreciation for all the support we have received from across the ocean these past three months”, Adrienne and Neil said.

“It has been overwhelming and humbling to know that Kian has the little village in his corner.

“One day he will visit Kiltipper Road and witness for himself Tallaght’s finest in full flight.

“Until then he will have to settle for watching Championship runs on YouTube with his dad.”

The couple added: “The support we have recieved means the world to us.

“Every email, facebook like and text message gives us an invaluable boost to keep going and help Kian continue his journey.

“In the long run any funds raised will be used for medical equipment and specialised nursing amongst other expenses that will no doubt come up.

“Again, we simply don’t have the words to express out gratitude for all the fundraising efforts.

“We hope evryone enjoys the quiz and that it provides some relief from the stresses of Covid-19.

“Stay strong, be good to each other and in the words of Kian’s grandad… C’mon Davis!”

Thomas Davis is running the live online Facebook fun quiz this Saturday, April 4 at 8pm.

The quiz is open for everyone to take part.
