BRENDAN Hyland will be hoping he can register the Olympic qualification time for the 200m Butterfly when he goes again in that event tomorrow at the Swim Ireland Irish National Team Trials taking place at the National Sports Campus.

The National Centre and Tallaght Swim Club competitor just missed out on making the cut this evening when he clocked a time of 1:57.85, short of the 1:56.48 he needs to book his place on the Ireland squad for Tokyo.

“I probably just need to be more aggressive going out and probably a bit more focused coming home” remarked a disappointed Hyland after his race.

He will be going again tomorrow evening at 6.08pm just after fellow Tallaght swimmer Niamh Coyne competes again in the 100m Breaststroke.

Coyne, who is chasing a qualification time of 1:07.07, twice finished second today in times of 1:08.03 and 1:07.58.
