Iconic Business Bursary goes to Grab Same Day Delivery firm

Grab Same Day Delivery has won The Iconic Business Bursary in the competition’s first year. A fully independent Irish-owned company, Grab was announced as the winner on Newstalk’s Down to Business with Bobby Kerr on Saturday, July 2.

An innovative tech business, Grab is owned and operated by CEO James Redmond, COO Darren Boylan from Clondalkin, and CCO Liam Bourke.

Grab provides Irish retailers with the technology to provide same-day delivery, priding themselves on giving Irish businesses a fighting chance against the likes of global giant Amazon. Grab has built their software over the last six years to enable them to provide this user-friendly, modern, and visual service, with full traceability from store to door in real-time.

In 2022, Grab now has over 40 drivers working on the app. At the beginning of 2022, Grab released its latest software solution to ensure the company continues to stay ahead of the current delivery market.

“Winning The Iconic Business Bursary means so much for our business – It’s like we have won the lotto,” says James Redmond, CEO, Grab Same Day Delivery.

“Since we started in 2018, we have used several opportunities to grow our business, but winning this bursary is enormous for us, enabling us to grow our business with a flexible workspace at Iconic, as well as grow our brand awareness with media support from Newstalk, and marketing services from Marketing Network Group.”

The Iconic Business Bursary competition was led by Iconic Offices CEO and founder, Joe McGinley, businessman and Newstalk’s ‘Down to Business’ host, Bobby Kerr, and MD of Marketing Network Group, Kieran Killeen.

“The quality of the entrants was exceptional”, says Joe McGinley, CEO, Iconic Offices, “making it difficult for us to narrow it down to the three impressive finalists, WestTech Technologies, Zipp Mobility, and Grab Same Day Delivery.”

Iconic Offices launched The Iconic Business Bursary in April of this year, in partnership with Newstalk and Marketing Network Group. The Bursary competition received a record response, with almost 100 entries in its first year. Worth €100,000 to the winner, the bursary package offered a €50,000 workspace package at Iconic Offices, including private office space; reputable marketing services from Marketing Network Group to the value of €25,000; along with €25,000 worth of media coverage, profiling the winning business on Newstalk.

“Although the quality of the entrants we received for The Iconic Business Bursary was extremely impressive,” continues Joe McGinley, “Grab Same Day Delivery really stood out to myself, Bobby and Kieran, from the rest of the crowd.

“They have a clear mission and have cleverly identified their niche, with an obvious market fit given their trading to date. Changing market dynamics are going to play into their favour.”
