Important information for those on the SDCC housing list

By Echo Reporter

ALL applicants on South Dublin County Council’s housing waiting list prior to September 21, 2015, are required to complete a Social Housing Assessment, either online or in paper form.

Those that do not complete the application will be taken off the housing waiting list, leading to concerns by Sinn Féin Councillor Mark Ward that applicants who have recently moved, or are away on holidays “could lose their place on the housing list.”

The assessment is being used to upgrade the housing needs database in accordance with the Housing Act.

Cllr Ward said: “The council will write to each applicant on its social housing list prior to September 21, 2015, using the current address provided by the applicant.

“The danger is that if someone has subsequently moved address they may not get this letter. I would advise anyone who has moved addresses, to notify the council as they could have their application for social housing terminated.”

Cllr Ward says significant groups of people within the county are unable to access the internet – however the council say those without access to internet can access a PC at Tallaght/Clondalkin library or alternatively, complete a hard copy of the application.

Ward welcomes an update of the live register but wants to see the council being “flexible” and “hope this does not turn into a cull of the housing list.”

He encourages everyone on the housing waiting list to contact the council directly and clarify their information in correct.
