Inspiration from the West for Lucan couple

By Maurice Garvey

A MARRIED couple from Lucan utilised a background in design to launch an online pottery and ceramic jewellery collection, reports |Maurice Garvey.

Their products are proving popular for clients abroad, but the next step for Mark and Denise Reid is to increase awareness of their Mooarte brand in the domestic market.

“It will probably take two years to establish an online business,” said Mark, who has a background in interior design.
“The domestic market is very important – people here get our style.”

The couple also operate a separate venture Workspace, which designs and fits out offices, and both businesses are run from a base in Bluebell Business Park.

After extensive research in the West of Ireland, and two years spent working on designs and experiments, Mooarte.com was officially launched in August.

Mark continued: “The products are hand-crafted pottery and ceramic-based jewellery with an emphasis on individuality, as no one piece is created the same.”

Denise says they extracted inspiration for their collection from their research in the West of Ireland.

“Our stories and our landscapes are known all across the world for their magic and beauty. We’re hoping to capture this with our products and bring it to customers direct on their desktop or mobile device,” said Denise.

“This can be seen in their Clew Bay Island pendant or the Irish Angels, each with their own personalities and traits.”

The couple “employ the best craftspeople to create colourful pieces that appeal to contemporary Ireland.”

Mark continued: “My background is interior design where I found my love for vibrant colours and textures. Colour is such an important part of Mooarte’s creative process. All our products are made with traditional pottery and ceramic techniques.”
The pair plan to expand the range next year – visit Mooarte.com for further details.
