Investigations are now being carried out by gardai and the child and family agency Tusla into the incident that allegedly took place last Thursday, November 24.

It is believed the incident was not initially reported, which goes against child protection rules which state that any person with knowledge of neglect or abuse of a child should make a report without delay.

In a statement released to Echo.ie a Garda Spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that occurred in the Lucan District on Thursday 24th November 2016.

“As this is an on-going investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
