The investment will also create 70 temporary construction jobs. The facility will be in commercial operation by 2021.

The company made the announcment on Wednesday afternoon and was welcomed by Fine Gael TD Frances Fitzgerald. “I am pleased with the announcement from Takeda Pharmaceuticals that they are to create up to 70 jobs with a further investment of €25million in Grange Castle. This is in addition to the €40million investment in the construction of a stand-alone production facility which I was delighted to turn the sod on last year.

“Takeda’s decision to invest in Ireland is a great win and vote of confidence in Ireland and it builds on our ongoing expansion of the sector here. I am delighted that this investment will bring a further 70 jobs to the company’s existing facility.

“The pharma industry contributes greatly to the Irish economy in terms of jobs and exports, and is one of the fastest growing sectors. Furthermore, we have seen continued investment by companies such as Takeda here in Grange Castle Business Park, which is a great vote of confidence in the local workforce.

“This is good news for Lucan, Clondalkin and the surrounding areas. Earlier this week I attended the launch of a €40million Logistics Park Development by Mountpark EU in nearby Baldonnell. These jobs impact local on the employment and contribution to the local economy here in South Dublin. This continued investment by companies such as Mountpark and Takeda is a demonstration of the strong business offering that the County has for Irish and International businesses.

“I want to wish Paul and all his team every success with the project, and I look forward to seeing Takeda continue to grow even further here in Grange Castle.”
