THE security division at IT distributor DataSolutions grew significantly in 2020 - with revenue increasing by €7.5 million compared to the previous year.

Growth at the Nangor Road based-company was driven by a major increase in remote working due to Covid-19, increased demand for IT security solutions, and new vendor partnerships.

New vendors added were Neustar, D3 Security, ColorTokens, Ordr and Orca Security, whose public cloud security solution deploys in minutes to identify vulnerabilities.

These partnerships have expanded DataSolutions existing cybersecurity portfolio, which includes industry leaders such as Check Point and HPE Aruba.

DataSolutions Managing Director Michael O’Hara said security was an area that “exploded” as businesses looked to enable widespread remote working and maintain operations.

“With the increase in sophisticated cyberattacks targeted at dispersed workforces, security teams are under serious pressure to protect vulnerable organisations and critical data,” O’Hara explained.

“That’s not to mention the fact that they are potentially dealing with unprotected networks, personal devices and unofficial app downloads.

“Industry-leading vendors and cutting-edge solutions are crucial for businesses to safeguard their operations, people and information. Hence why we will continue to expand our offering and deliver technologies and services which, now more than ever, are the difference between organisations surviving and thriving.”

DataSolutions recently ran a four-week coffee morning series with ColorTokens to give Irish companies an overview of its Zero Trust approach and offering – designed to highlight the model and solutions needed to make organisations resilient to cyber threats.

The significant cybersecurity division growth builds on the success of DataSolutions in recent years, as the company plans further expansion in the Irish and UK markets in 2021.
