IT Tallaght graduate comes out tops in national accounting exam

A RECENT IT Tallaght graduate came fourth out of more than 1,200 Irish candidates in a national accounting exam, The Echo has learned, reports Mary Dennehy.

Darren Farrell, from Inchicore, is a first class honours graduate on the Bachelor of Business, Accounting and Finance programme at IT Tallaght and is now a trainee chartered accountant with Ernst and Young.

He recently took part in the CAP 2 Examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, getting the fourth highest result out of 1,274 candidates.

The Inchicore lad is no stranger to success after leading IT Tallaght to win the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Global Business Challenge 2015, going onto compete in the World Final in Poland in August 2015.

Darren celebrated his results with Martin Nolan, Head of Department of Accountancy & Professional Studies, Darren Farrell, and Thomas Stone, President of the Institute of Technology Tallaght.
