Jackie had a great sense of humour and a big heart

This week Thomas Davis writes a tribute to club member Jackie Kavanagh, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7th.

Last Tuesday we lost one of the great personalities from Thomas Davis GAA club. Jackie Kavanagh sadly passed away peacefully in the hospice after her four year brave battle with cancer.

Jackie will fondly be remembered on Kiltipper Road for her great sense of humour, big heart and great team spirit with all the teams she was involved with over the years.

Both herself and husband Philly have a long length of service looking after club teams, Jackie loved her beloved Gaelic for Mams (G4M) football team where she was the pillar of the team and made many new friendships over the last 10 years.

Even throughout her 4 year illness Jackie was always first to lend a helping hand in any club fundraisers, it was only before Christmas she was up in the bar selling raffle tickets for the big O’Neill family fundraiser and that’s the type of person Jackie will be remembered for.

It was a testament to Jackie and all her family the huge numbers that turned out all along the route from Tallaght village to Bohernabreena last Thursday to pay their respects and also everyone who joined us online for a few songs to remember Jackie shortly after the funeral.
