Active South Dublin June Sports Star: Cormac Dixon

THERE was joy for Tallaght athlete Cormac Dixon at the All-Ireland Schools Track and Field Championships in Tullamore.

In a very tactically run event, Cormac Dixon came out tops in the Senior boys 1,500m after he saw off his main rivals in the final to go top the podium for HFCS Rathcoole.

“I had a good few races this year but this result is definitely the highlight of my season,” Cormac Dixon said.

“It was my last race for my school and in the All-Ireland Schools Championship so I was delighted to take home the title,”.

Cormac has plenty to look forward to on his athletics journey as he is heading to Providence College in Rhode Island in America in August.

“I will spend the next four years there on scholarship, so I hope to build up and achieve a lot over there just like Rhasidat, just like a lot of other Irish athletes, so hoping I end up as good as her.

“Cormac also ran in the 1,500m at the National Championships in Santry.

“We were delighted the way the championships went. It was great to see our members win medals.

“Tallaght AC is certainly one of the best clubs in the country and it’s only going to get better and better,”.
