Active South Dublin June Sports Team: Lucan United FC senior team
WHAT a year it has been for Lucan United senior men’s football team who secured the league and cup double.
The Lucan side claimed the Leinster Senior League Senior Division title for the first time in the club’s history while they also won the Charlie Cahill Cup.
A goal with only five minutes remaining in extra time by Luke Walsh secured the Charlie Cahill Cup over St Mochta’s FC in Frank Cooke Park.
It was the first trophy manager Keith Baker won with the club after stepping up from assistant at the start of the season, and what a season it has proved to be.
“It’s been a brilliant season for the club.
“A lot of hard work went in, it was a long season and we got what we deserved at the end,” said Lucan United official John Markey.
“It was a great season all round for the senior section in the club with both the Saturday and Sunday’s sides enjoying success.
“We are hoping to build on from this success this year now.
“Our Sunday side will be now playing on Friday nights and we will be looking to push on from this success,”.
