Kilnamanagh U15s crowned champs

A HARD-FOUGHT 1-1 draw with Enniskerry at Ned Kelly Park on Sunday last saw Kilnamanagh earn the point they needed to secure the Under 15A League title.

Having edged out their opponents 2-1 in their previous encounter just two weeks before, the Tallaght side was in confident mood heading into last weekend’s match, from with Enniskerry required a victory to remain in contention for the title themselves.

The hosts carved out some early chances, but were unable to convert them.

They were forced to make an early change after Grace Costello continued to feel the effects of a knock she sustained the weekend before.

But the introduction of Abigail Quinn proved a masterstroke as she was on the pitch only five minutes before she curled a sublime strike from the left into the far top corner to edge Kilnamanagh in front.

The visitors worked their way into the match more after the restart and managed to restore parity with 25 minutes remaining, during which both teams carved out chances, but none of them amounted to scores and the game finished deadlocked.
