kingswood DSC 1726 2 resizedTHE long-awaited planning application for the development of a 1000 pupil secondary school in Kingswood has been quashed by South Dublin County Council after being deemed invalid.

Plans to submit the application had been confirmed by The Echo two weeks ago, with the planning application submitted to the council on August 6.

The council deemed the application invalid on Tuesday, and gave a list of nine errors with the application.
It was submitted by ARPL Architects, a company based in Ayr, Scotland that created the plans on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills.

Errors include the erection of the site notice, no ordinance survey sheet number, issues with the levels and contours of the lands and proposed structures and no figures relating to the elevations and sections indicated.

The appropriate fee for the application was also not received by the planning department and typographical errors were also in questions in the planning application form.

Plans for the secondary school have been in the pipeline for over 30 years, with the proposed site being reserved for the development for decades.

Jan O’ Connor TD, the Minister for Education and Skills has previously said that the intended opening date for the school is 2016/2017.
