Laurels Cycle Crew edge closer to the €1 million

AFTER a very successful Santa Cycle at the weekend the Laurels Cycle Crew are €60,000 short of the magic €1 million raised for charity.
On Sunday well over 500 cycled from the Phoenix Park to the Laurel’s Pub in Clondalkin. The Santa Cycle is now in its fourth year and is getting bigger every year.

The Laurels Cycle Crew was established in 2009 by Laurels head barman Denis McCarthy and bar manager Damien Long. As of Sunday they have raised €940,000 for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital as the hospital’s largest non-corporate donor.
All monies raised from the cycle goes to the Straight Ahead project.
Straight Ahead is a medical support group affiliated to the CMRF, which provides surgery, support and medical equipment for children with orthopaedic conditions, including scoliosis.
Denis told The Echo: “We are very happy with the turnout. We haven’t reached the €1 million mark yet. We are just at €940,000. We’re hoping to achieve the one million next year after our big cycle in April.”
The Laurels Cycle Crew can take a much-needed rest over Christmas before getting back in training for the Galway to Dublin cycle in April.
