League leaders St Francis return to action
ST FRANCIS found themselves affected by the storm last weekend with their National League side having their game against Salthill Devon postponed due to weather warnings.
They are set to resume action this coming Saturday as they take on Mayo FC at John Hyland Park.
The two teams have faced each other already in the competition with Francis losing the opening game of the season 1-0 in Castlebar against their western opposition.
That loss would be followed by two draws and it looked as though Francis were struggling to adapt to the new league.
Since then however the side have flourished and in their last three games have managed three wins all the while conceding just one goal in that time.
Scorelines of 4-1, 3-0 and 2-0 have seen them defeat Salthill Devon, Letterkenny and most recently TU Dublin in a local derby which saw Abdurrahman Bouderbala and Rory Garvey get on the scoresheet.
This impressive run of form has seen them earn their place at the top of the table where they sit on 11 points, ahead of Salthill Devon on goal difference.
Their opposition this weekend, Mayo FC are currently in third place on nine points. They lost their three games following the opening win over Francis however managed to get more points on the board with wins against Letterkenny and TU Dublin.
They came up short in their most recent game however when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Salthill Devon.
Francis will be looking for revenge over that opening day result this weekend as they look to consolidate their grip on the top spot in the table.
