St Mark’s LGFA minors, who will take on Geraldine P Morans in the Division 8 Championship final at Cornelscourt this weekend
Mark’s aim to bring title back to Tallaght
ST MARK’S LGFA Minor side take on Geraldine P. Morans at Cornelscourt this weekend in the Division 8 Championship final.
For this year Mark’s competed at Division 8 level in the Championship and in Division 9 for League competition.
They finished in third place in their league, only being defeated by Ballyboden St Enda’s and St Brigid’s.
The side have improved even further since the beginning of the championship and have become an extremely high scoring outfit with some of their more impressive scorelines being a 2-20 to 4-07 victory against Garda Westmanstown Gaels and a massive 4-17 to 5-04 against their opposition in the final Geraldine P.Morans.
This landed them into a semi final where they competed against St Brigid’s, one of the teams who had defeated them in the league. Mark’s over the line in style with a 5-12 to 3-05 display earning them the victory.
The other team who had defeated them in the league, Ballyboden St Enda’s were defeated by P.Morans in what could be considered an upset with Boden finishing top of their group and looking particularly strong throughout the year.
Mark’s come into the contest on a great wave of momentum with standout performers throughout the campaign being Ava Sherwood, Zara Quirke, Layla Murphy, Niamh Boyle and Grace Green.
They will be hoping for another high scoring output this weekend as they bid to take a Championship trophy back to Tallaght.
