Family syndicate celebrates €92k Lotto win

A family syndicate is making plans for a special celebration after winning more than €92,000 in the Lotto with a ticket purchased at Valley Newsagents in Fortunestown Shopping Centre.

The family won €92,397 in the draw on Saturday, October 3 after they bought their ticket in Tallaght.

The ticket was a Quick Pick and was purchased the day before on Friday, October 2, and the prize was won when it matched five numbers and the bonus number – the winning numbers were: 01, 07, 24, 33, 41, 45 and the bonus was 38.

One syndicate member described the moment they realised they were holding the winning ticket and how they kept it in an attic.

They said: “I nearly fell off my chair when I realised we had won after we checked our ticket! Everyone was absolutely thrilled, but then the panic set in about keeping the ticket safe.

“We initially put it in a safe, but we soon started overthinking that, so I passed it on to another syndicate member for safekeeping.

“In the end, it was hidden away in their attic because none of us wanted to take any chances! “

The family now have a range of plans for their share of the prize, including a weekend away, a new car and helping loved ones.

The winners are excited to get to celebrate their big win together and the syndicate member described a “special” celebration in the works to commemorate the big occasion.

“More than anything, we’re looking forward to celebrating together. We’re a very close family and love getting together, so we’ll definitely have to organise something special that we can all enjoy.

“That’s what makes the win even more meaningful.”
