Liam (12) attempting to complete 60km cycle in Corkagh Park
A SPORTS enthusiast from Clondalkin is making the most of his time off school, by racking up the miles for charity.
Kilcarbery resident Liam Morris, who turned 12 on April 21, is attempting to complete a 60km cycle at the Corkagh Park cycle track on Monday (May 11), in aid of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

The Fifth Class student in Gaelsoil Chluain Dolcáin, is missing his pals in school and sports activities (he is also a member of Round Tower GAA), but the bicycle challenge is one he is looking forward to.
Proud mother Jennifer Morris, said: “He was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety a couple of years ago, and turned into a bit of a recluse, but my husband Will, who is big into sport, encouraged him to be active.
“Now that he is taken away from school and away from sport, he is finding it difficult. We took him out to Corkagh Park on the bike the other day, said away you go and he just loved it.”
After setting up a GoFundMe page ‘Liam Alzheimer Cycle Challenge’, the page has already exceeded it’s target of €400 and is currently on €471 as of Wednesday at noon.
“We were watching something about Alzheimer’s on Ireland AM. I know every charity has it’s own problems but it’s a good cause,” said Jennifer.
“The cycle track was picked before the 2km distance was extended to 5km so he is literally going to be cycling around in circles! He has a run keeper on the bike.
My husband will have backup timers and puncture repair kit just in case. We’ll also be up there the whole time. He is just delighted with himself and so are we.”
