Life Style Sports expands its centre for distribution in Aerodrome Park
IRISH retailer Life Style Sports announced the development of its new 120,000 sq ft distribution centre in Rathcoole..
The centre is set to be the first fully carbon-neutral facility of its kind in Ireland. It will be located in the Aerodrome Business Park.
The retailer said the site is nearing completion ahead of a projected opening in Spring 2022.
It will serve two primary purposes – speedily delivering orders to over 200 countries via an enhanced e-commerce offering, and quickly replenishing stock in the 44 outlets of Life Style Sports across the island of Ireland.
The company says same-day delivery will now be possible for Irish consumers.
Within the new warehouse over 100 robots will automate picking – each robot picks up to 600 items an hour.
An additional €1m investment has been made in sustainability, including rooftop solar panels and rainwater harvesting.
Life Style Sports says all eCommerce packaging will be cut to exact size to minimise waste, there will be a 500 per cent increase in order packing capacity, and electric car and bike charging will be available onsite.
Mark Stafford, Life Style Sports CEO, said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce this historic step for Life Style Sports.
“We’ve been on an incredible journey since our foundation in 1979 and this new distribution centre futureproofs everything we do.
“We’re very proud of its sustainability, and carbon neutrality and we are confident it will be one of the leading sports retail distribution centres anywhere in the world.
“Being able to offer same-day delivery
on many online orders shows our
commitment to the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
“This is a very exciting step for the brand and we can’t wait to cut the ribbon on the new warehouse this coming spring.”
