Lights, music and joy – with Santa and his elves

SANTA made a guest appearance in Tallaght last weekend with a team of elves on hand to welcome the Christmas spirit.

The celebration, arranged by Tallaght Community Council volunteers, saw the Tallaght Christian Choir bring some glittering Christmas cheer with their carol-singing, while festive treats were offered to the gathered crowd.

This year’s Tallaght Person of the Year, Simon Sweeney, joined in the festivities when 1,400 lights were switched on to illuminate the Tallaght village Christmas tree.

The tree, situated at the Dancers Civic Garden in Tallaght Village, will light up the area until January 8.

Speaking after the event Tara De Buitléar, PRO for Tallaght Community Council (TCC), said: “We would like to thank Molloys for sponsoring the hot drinks and the Fancydress Warehouse, and Showtime for sponsoring the sound.

“TCC wish all the community a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a prosperous 2017.”
