The Echo understands the building was sold by the landlord, despite the best efforts of the salon to remain in the premises.

Palmerstown community representative Alan Hayes, called it “a sad day for Palmerstown” and wished staff all the best “with whatever comes next.”

Speaking to The Echo, owner of the salon, Elaine Carpenter, said she hopes to “move into a new premises asap.”

Elaine said: “I want to say a huge thanks to all my loyal customers, staff and family who have staunchly supported me while I’ve been working on Manor Road for 35 years.”

A former “Peter Marker”, Elaine worked at another salon on Manor Road for 15 years, before opening and operating her own successful salon for 20 years.

“It is sad to leave Manor Road,” she said.

“My clients are very important to me, and have stayed with me since I started. The three staff members have been amazing, I couldn’t ask for better staff.

“We do a lot of weddings, and are renowned for putting on a stylish display at Christmas, which greatly enhanced the festive mood on the road. We also service a lot of clients at Stewart’s Hospital and St Louises’s Knockmaroon, charging a minimum price. We have to think of them when we find a new place.”

Many residents posted touching tributes to the salon online, expressing sadness and thanking staff for their positive impact on the local community.

Elaine is currently providing a mobile service for clients, but is confident of moving into a new premises in the Palmerstown area very soon.
