TALLAGHT lad Glen McAuley has penned a four-year contract with Liverpool.

Having been on the Premier League side’s radar for a couple of years now and spent some time training with the club, the highly-rated striker has finally signed a deal now that he has turned 16.

He will now line out with the Reds’ Under 18 team and many believe it will not be long before he will be knocking on the door of first team inclusion.

A former player with St Joseph’s Boys and Crumlin United, McAuley has attracted significant interest from a number of top English clubs with Manchester United reported to have been very keen on snapping up the services of the Dubliner.

Certainly Crumlin United manager Martin Loughran believes McAuley can make it in his new club saying “he’s very quick with great potential and he has a great attitude.

“He’s been going over there for some time now, so he should be very familiar with the club and he won’t be going in blind” he added.

McAuley follows the likes of compatriot Conor Masterson who has impressed greatly since joining Liverpool, so much so, that he was called up to the first team squad for their FA Cup clash with Exeter earlier in the year.

Certainly McAuley will be hoping to make an equally telling impact and give Jurgen Klopp something to consider in the near future.
