Local players to represent Dublin in Sola Trophy

FIRHOUSE, Templeogue and Oblate Dynamos Basketball Clubs will all have a presence on the two teams that will represent Dublin at the 32nd Tomas Sola Trophy tournament in Barcelona in April.

Rebecca Hynes and Fiona Clune will fly the flag for Firhouse while Templeogue’s Sadhbh Doyle, Hannah Byrne and Abby Steacy, together with Oblate pair Kerrie O’Neill and Tara O’Doherty, have also been given the nod for the travelling squad.

Following the tournament in Barcelona the panel will then be reduced to 12/13 players for further tournaments in Belfast (annual Shehoops) and Sheffield in June.

This panel is self-funding, so sponsor-ship is constantly being sought together with the organising of fundraising events.

One of the fundraising events was the Under 14 Dublin Slam which was held in the Oblate Hall, where all the girls were split into two teams to play each other.
