The new flagship development, which will include the visitor centre and incorporate a new Happy Pear café and food shop, will open its doors this summer.

It will feature a terraced dining area, public garden, exhibition and gallery spaces, making the entire development a great addition to the village for all generations.

The Happy Pear hopes to offer a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu at the new café with seating for around 60 customers.

South Dublin County Council’s Head of Enterprise, Colm Ward said: “We are delighted to announce that the Happy Pear have been appointed as the operators of the new Clondalkin Round Tower Visitor Centre.

“We very much look forward to collaborating with Stephen and David Flynn on this new flagship development and are confident that their expertise and reputation will ensure a first-class dining and visitor experience for our customers.”

The Happy Pear co-founders and directors, twins David and Stephen Flynn said: “This is a really great development and this collaboration is a very exciting move for our business.

“We’re really delighted to be bringing The Happy Pear to this incredible new centre, which is rich in history and culture and will provide a real focal point for the village.

“We’re really looking forward to making healthy food even more accessible in South Dublin County and to making a positive impact on the local community and economy by providing exciting new employment opportunities.”

They added: “We can’t wait to open the doors and meet everyone from the community, and of course breakfast is on us – we’ll continue our long-standing tradition of providing free, organic porridge every morning in the new café.”

In recent weeks, The Happy Pear announced plans to open two new locations in the Dublin area in 2017.

It was also revealed that The Happy Pear’s bestselling first cookbook has sold 100,000 copies and that David and Stephen’s third cookbook will be published in spring 2018. Their second and current bestselling cookbook, The World of the Happy Pear, was named Cookbook of the Year at the Irish Book Awards in November.
