Lucan District Credit Union to provide funding to Aspen Counselling

LUCAN District Credit Union has agreed to provide some funding to Aspen Counselling Services over the next two years.

This will enable Aspen to provide lower cost counselling to people who need to avail of it for either themselves or their children.

The partnership will provide a free first counselling session and a counsellor will then determine how many sessions are required and how much it will cost.

“It made sense to us to partner with Aspen Counselling at this time,” says Paula Maguire, CEO of Lucan District Credit Union.

“We are seeing the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on our family, friends and the community every day. This is a great way to assist those among us who may be in distress.”

Linda Balfe, founder and Director of Aspen Counselling Services says they have seen a “significant increase” in the number of people contacting their service in recent months.

“Even with this increased demand we still aim to provide the opportunity to talk to one of our professioal therapists within 48 hours of first contact,” said Linda.

“We have put all of the health and safety requirements in place if our clients wish to have face to face therapy and we also offer online consultations.”

Established in 2001, Aspen Counselling now has a  team of 40 therapists and six purpose built counselling rooms in their village office.

Founded in 1968, Lucan Credit Union has 16,200 members in the community and €80m in member assets under management.
