Lucan Festival unveils its community activities plans

WITH the annual Lucan Festival fast approaching, organisers are encouraging local Lucan Festival  13 2014businesses to support the community event.
There will be lots of activities and events taking place across the area from September 10 to September 13.

For the second year in a row the Italian Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Mr Giovanni Adorni Braccesi Chiassi, will open up the grounds of Lucan House.
Entrance to the grounds will cost €5 and will take place on Saturday, September 12 between 1.30pm and 5pm with all proceeds going towards funding the festival.
Tickets for the special event will be available on September 12 at the Supervalu Coffee Shop from 11.30am to 2.30pm with the last entry to the grounds at 4.15pm.
Saturday will also see the Tom Byrne Memorial Road Race organised by Lucan Harriers take place from 10am for young and old alike. Application forms are available from the club. 
There will be a complete festival atmosphere in the village on Sunday, September 13 with two stages for music and entertainment from local acts and bands.
Singers, bands, dance groups, and entertainers are all welcome to apply to stage manager Dara MacCraith for a place at the festival by contacting daramaccraith@hotmail.com.
There will also be an Historical Walk through the village at 10.30am on Thursday, September 10.
The walk will start at St Mary’s Church car park, will take approximately two hours and is free for all.
There will also be a free Dublin and Lucan Steam Tramway slide show and talk in Lucan Presbyterian Church later in the day.
Fifth and Sixth class students will interview senior citizens about their schooldays in the 1940s, 50s and 60s as part of the festival on Friday, September 11.
