Major fire at former Crooksling Nursing Home

Dublin Fire Brigade are currently dealing with a major blaze at the former St Brigid’s nursing home in Crooksling.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 7am this morning with units attending from Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Dun Laoghaire and Dolphins Barn.

“Firefighters were called at 7am this morning to vacant buildings alight at Crooksling off the Blessington Road” said Dublin Fire Brigade.

“Seven fire engines including a turntable ladder and emergency tender, water tank and foam tender are currently at the scene the scene.

The former St Brigid’s Crooksling Nursing Home in Brittas which closed at the end of March 2020.

“Traffic restrictions on the N81 due to hose lines. Operations are continuing”.

There had been protests over the past few weeks, as reported in The Echo, outside the former nursing home amid speculation that the building was to accommodate migrants.

“Gardaí and emergency services are currently attending the scene of a fire at a premises in Brittas, Co. Dublin, which occurred this morning, Sunday 4th February 2024” Gardaí confirmed to The Echo.
