Man (27) dies after being struck by SUV on Naas Road at Citywest

A male pedestrian has died overnight after he was struck by a vehicle on the Naas Road – near Brownsbarn.

The 27-year-old man was struck by an SUV and was taken to Tallaght Hospital. A post mortem will take place later today.

The outbound carriageway is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will reopen by late morning.

Diversions are in place from Junction Two (Kingswood).

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them immediately.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 15th October, 2017 on the N7 outbound at junction 3 Brownsbarn, Dublin.

“A 27-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured when was struck by a SUV.

“His body was removed to Tallaght Hospital where a post mortem will take place. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

“The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will reopen by late morning.”
