Man (30s) charged following discovery of suspect device

GARDAI investigating the discovery of a suspect device in Tallaght Garda Station on Friday evening have charged the arrested man.

As previously reported, gardai on active patrol in Tallaght on Friday, May 26, arrested a male.

On arrival back at Tallaght Garda Station, an “initial inspection of a bag in possession of the male indicated contents of concern”.

As a precaution the station was evacuated and the Irish Defence Forces Explosives Disposal requested.

This morning, gardai confirmed that the man arrested (30s) was detained under Section 30, Offences against the State Act, 1939 and has since been charged.

A Garda spokesperson said he is due to appear before Tallaght District court this morning, Monday, May 29.

Investigations are ongoing, gardai said.
