Sergeant Eithne Madden told Judge Patricia McNamara that on June 16 last, Kelly entered Lifestyle Sports and took a Nike t-shirt and left without paying for it. She said he was detained by security.

Sgt. Madden said Kelly had 23 previous convictions including three for theft.

She said that on February 15, 2016, he had been sentenced to 100 hours community service for theft.  Kelly's solicitor, John O'Leary, said his client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

He said Kelly had completed the community service.

Judge McNamara remanded Kelly on continuing bail to a date in January for a probation report.
