Man allegedly assaulted driver of car he crashed into
A DRIVER who allegedly assaulted the driver of another car that he had crashed into has appeared before Blanchardstown District Court.
Judge David McHugh accepted jurisdiction in William Green’s case.
Green, aged 29, with an address at Stocking Hill, Rathfarnham, is charged with assaulting Javier Cid Torres causing him harm at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, on April 30, 2017.
He is also charged with dangerous driving, no insurance and no driving licence at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, on the above date.
He is also charged with hit and run – failing to give information; hit and run – failing to keep his vehicle at the scene; hit and run – failure to report an accident and hit and run – failing to stop at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, also on April 30, 2017.
Garda Brendan Maher told Judge McHugh that the DPP had directed summary disposal.
Judge McHugh asked what was alleged.
Garda Maher said it will be alleged that Green crashed into another car before driving off and then assaulting the injured party.
He said it will be alleged that the injured party, Mr Cid Torres, got a lift from a passing motorist.
Garda Maher said it will be alleged that Green punched Mr Cid Torres and that he received soft tissue bruising.
Judge McHugh remanded Green on continuing bail to a date in September for a plea or a date for hearing.
