UPDATE: Man arrested after €1.75 million worth of cocaine seized in Clondalkin

UPDATE: Gardai have charged a man following the €1.75 million seizure of cocaine in Clondalkin on Friday, April 15, 2022.

The man (30s) will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin (Court.2) this morning, Monday, April 18, 2022 at 10.30am.

A MAN in is 30’s has been arrested in connection with the seizure of €1.75 million worth of cocaine in Clondalkin yesterday.

Gardai stopped a car on St Cuthberts Road on Friday April 15 at approximately 5.30p.m. and conducted a search of it. During the course of the search 25kg of cocaine was located in the vehicle.

The man who was arrested is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda station.

A Garda statement issued to The Echo this morning said: “As part of Operation Tara, Gardai have seized €1.75 million of cocaine and arrested a man, following an operation in Clondalkin yesterday, Friday 15th April 2022.

“At approximately 5:30pm, Gardaí stopped a vehicle on St Cuthberts Road and conducted a search of it. During the course of the search 25kg of cocaine was located in the vehicle. All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

“A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained under the provisions of Section of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda station. He can be help for up to a period of 7 days.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
