Man arrested after reports of attempted abduction at local Lidl
A Garda investigation has been launched after a man was accused of attempting to abduct a young child from a Lidl store in Terenure.
The incident occurred on February 26th, and resulted in a man being arrested for questioning on March 1st, 2017.
According to the boy’s mother, she let go of the child’s hand for a brief moment while pushing a shopping trolley, and when she looked back a man was leading her son towards the door.
Gardai confirmed to Echo.ie that investigations are underway, with a spokesperson saying: “Gardaí in Terenure received a report that there had been an attempted abduction of a young child at a premises on the Rathfarnam Road, Terenure on the 26th of February 2017.
“The incident occurred at approximately 4.20pm on the 26th February.
“A male was arrested on the 1st of March and detained in Terenure under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
“He was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.”
