Victims of Clondalkin fire named locally
The mother who tragically died in a fire at a Clondalkin apartment in the early hours of this morning has this afternoon been named as 27-year-old Anne Marie O’Brien.
Her two-year-old daughter Paris also lost her life, along with three-year-old Holly, whose mother was rushed to St James’ Hospital.
A four-year-old boy was also in the apartment at the time and was taken to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
Anne Marie was believed to have been seven months pregnant.
The tragedy unfolded around 2:30am when a blaze broke out at an apartment in Kilcronan Avenue, which is used Sonas Domestic Violence Charity to provide short-term accommodation for women and children.
Tributes have been paid both in person at the scene of the fire and online, with many unable to comprehend the tragedy that struck in the middle of the night.
One local resident said: “We just can’t believe something like this could happen. You hear about it on the telly, but you never think it will happen in your estate.
“The women in there were lovely, they kept to themselves for the most part, they had obviously had a tough time of it before, and it’s just such a tragedy for everyone involved and for the community too.”

Books of condolence have been opened at the Civic Offices in both Clondalkin and Tallaght this afternoon by Mayor Guss O’Connell.
Investigations continue this afternoon, with an update from gardai expected later today.
