Man arrested in relation to Robert Ellis murder in Clondalkin

Gardai investigating the murder of Robert Ellis at Liscarne Gardens in Clondalkin on the 1st November, 2016 have arrested a man.

The man in his 20s was arrested this morning.

He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Lucan Garda Station.

Robert Ellis (25) was chased from a bonfire in the St Mark’s area to Liscarne Gardens, and banged on the front door of a house at approximately 3am on the morning of November 1, in an effort to escape his attackers.

Mr Ellis was fatally assaulted at the scene and his body was found by gardaí in the back garden of a house.

Blood was found on a footpath beside a green space at the end of Liscarne Gardens, and in the driveway of the house.

At the time Superintendent Dermot Mann, from Lucan Garda Station, said gardai were looking for information on the movements of the group of attackers, who were seen leaving the garden via a back wall.
